Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 355 AM EDT Tue Nov 02 2021 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 03 2021 - 00Z Wed Nov 10 2021 One more day of light and variable winds is forecast across Hawaii today, with daytime sea breezes dominating the flow and possibly causing showers over interior areas where they set up, with nighttime land breezes tending to clear out the clouds and rain. Then surface high pressure will set up to the north of the state Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing a return to more typical (moderate to eventually locally breezy) easterly trade winds that should last through the weekend and into early next week, which could bring rain showers to windward and mountain areas. Shower activity could be enhanced particularly for the northern islands (Kauai/Oahu) through Thursday, possibly Friday, as a band of moisture associated with a dissipating cold front sets up. Then there remains the possibility for increased moisture to reach the Big Island around Friday-Saturday, and the GFS is the main model showing this, but the enhanced moisture may stay south of land as indicated by other guidance.
