Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 319 AM EDT Fri Nov 05 2021 Valid 00Z Sat Nov 06 2021 - 00Z Sat Nov 13 2021 Surface high pressure bridged to the north of the state should favor moderate easterly trade winds into early next week in a pattern with limited windward terrain showers under a persistent upper trough. Trades are expected to ease into midweek as supporting surface high shifts eastward to the eastern Pacific. The upper ridge will meanwhile weaken in response to approaching upper trough energy to the northwest of the state that may amplify significantly into later next week considering the strength of upstream ridging by then in most guidance over mid-latitudes of the western Pacific. This scenario as per a favored composite of well clustered forecast guidance would drive a well defined cold front toward the islands and act to increase leading moisture advection and rainfall activity to the state by the end of next week.
