Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 316 AM EDT Sat Nov 06 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 07 2021 - 00Z Sun Nov 14 2021 Guidance reasonably agrees that surface high pressure bridged to the north of the state should favor moderate easterly trade winds into early next week in a pattern with limited windward terrain showers under a persistent upper trough. Trades are expected to ease through midweek as supporting surface high shifts eastward to the eastern Pacific. The upper ridge over the state will meanwhile gradually weaken in response to approaching upper trough energy to the northwest of the state that should amplify into later next week as reinforced by a series of potent impulses set to dig to the lee of an amplified upstream ridge shown in most guidance over mid-latitudes of the western Pacific. While guidance has trended away from deep upper trough amplification compared to yesterday, this scenario would still drive a well defined cold front to the northwest of the islands by the end of next week.
