Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 1117 PM EST Wed Nov 10 2021 Valid 00Z Fri Nov 12 2021 - 00Z Fri Nov 19 2021 ...A Wet Weather Pattern Early Next Week... Guidance reasonably agrees that island trades only briefly reassert themselves Thursday and Friday as a subtropical ridge offshore California briefly strengthens before troughing strengthens over and near the archipelago and persists into late next week, reaching peak amplification Saturday into Monday which brings a front into the main islands, some remnant moisture from the remains of Sandra, and possibly another disturbance that forms south to southwest of Hawai'i into the area, bringing precipitable water values of 2"+ near the Big Island within a strengthening southeast to south low-level flow regime. This should lure deeper tropical moisture into the state within what is expected to be an increasingly wet pattern from Sunday into next Tuesday, with Monday/Tuesday appearing the be the wettest days in the main islands, with some preference for the island of Hawai'i. The 27 km versions of the 18z=00z GFS/12z ECMWF paint narrow swaths of 2-4" of rain ashore or very near Hawai'i, which would potentially be heavier at elevation should it fall ashore. Roth
