Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 208 AM EST Sat Dec 11 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Dec 12 2021 - 00Z Sun Dec 19 2021 Models and ensembles still reasonably agree that high pressure will establish itself to the north of Hawaii, with drier conditions and a more typical trade wind pattern over the state into early next week. This will equate to moderate to breezy trades and some scattered windward and mountain showers, but no widespread rainfall under upper ridging. By Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, guidance shows a weakening cold front slowly passing southward through the state. This may lead to a temporary period of slightly enhanced moisture and some increase in showers. The upper ridge may slowly erode later next week as a weakness aloft shifts over the state. This may act to pool modest shower fueling moisture, but longevity and effect/reformation is uncertain through these longer time frames into next weekend. Schichtel
