Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 201 AM EST Sun Dec 12 2021 Valid 00Z Mon Dec 13 2021 - 00Z Mon Dec 20 2021 A preferred composite of reasonably well clustered solutions from latest guidance still shows high pressure establishing itself to the north of Hawaii, with drier conditions and a more typical trade wind pattern now over the state. This includes moderate to breezy trades and some scattered windward and mountain showers, but no widespread rainfall under upper ridging. By Tuesday and Wednesday, a weakening cold front is expected to pass slowly southward through the state. This may lead to a temporary period of slightly enhanced moisture and some increase in showers. The upper ridge slowly erodes mid-later week as a weakness aloft settles over the islands. This may gradually act to pool more shower fueling moisture, but longevity and effect/reformation remains less certain into next weekend. Schichtel
