Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 200 AM EST Wed Dec 29 2021 Valid 00Z Thu Dec 30 2021 - 00Z Thu Jan 06 2022 A persistent and anomalously strong high pressure, located between Hawaii and Alaska, will weaken and shift southward by the weekend, allowing for a trough to enter the region from the west. Gusty trade winds are expected and windward facing terrain will have showers during this period. As the trough amplifies a cold front will move toward the western part of the state ushering in more southerly winds. These winds will drawl in more moisture northward by the weekend, that will aid in generating and maintaining widespread, moderate to locally heavy rains for parts of the islands. Campbell
