Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 251 AM EST Tue Jan 11 2022 Valid 00Z Wed Jan 12 2022 - 00Z Wed Jan 19 2022 A cold front should weaken as it moves across the rest of Hawaii Tuesday, but could temporarily enhance cloud cover and moisture ahead of it, along with the possibility of showers. Then dewpoints are expected to dry out somewhat behind it especially for the northwestern islands, while moderate east-northeasterly trade winds set up, creating a cooler feel. With a ridge encroaching, the pattern becomes more favorable for light and variable winds dominated by land and sea breezes for the latter part of the workweek, while moisture levels rise closer to normal and spotty showers are possible, especially over interior parts of the islands during the afternoons as the sea breezes create convergence. On Friday into Saturday, model guidance continues to show a front stalling to the north of the state and dissipating. Farther south of the front, a land/sea breeze pattern remains possible, though easterly trades may pick up slightly early next week. Overall, significant rainfall is not expected over the next week.
