Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 314 AM EST Wed Jan 12 2022 Valid 00Z Thu Jan 13 2022 - 00Z Thu Jan 20 2022 After remnant moisture from a weakening frontal system dissipates later today, Hawaii's weather will be relatively dry and quiet over the next week. Frontal systems are forecast to stall and dissipate to the north of the state, while surface ridging encroaches over Hawaii. Thus the pattern becomes more favorable for light and variable winds dominated by land and sea breezes for much of the upcoming week for the northwestern islands, while the southern islands see slightly stronger winds--light to locally moderate trades. Moisture levels should be close to normal and spotty showers are possible, especially where there is upslope flow or sea breezes causing convergence, but overall, significant rainfall is not expected over the next week.
