Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 232 AM EST Thu Jan 13 2022 Valid 00Z Fri Jan 14 2022 - 00Z Fri Jan 21 2022 Over the next week, Hawaii's weather should remain generally dry and relatively quiet. Surface ridging is encroaching over Hawaii and thus the pattern becomes more favorable for light and variable winds dominated by land and sea breezes for much of the upcoming week for the northwestern islands, while the southern islands see slightly stronger winds--light to locally moderate trades. Frontal systems are currently forecast to stall and dissipate north of the state, with one such front on Friday into Saturday and another Tuesday into Wednesday. There is some chance that the latter front could make its way into at least the northwestern islands, which could increase coverage of rain showers, so this will continue to be monitored. Other than that, moisture levels should be close to normal and spotty showers are possible, especially where there is upslope flow or sea breezes causing convergence, but overall, significant rainfall is not expected through this weekend into next week.
