Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 220 AM EST Fri Jan 14 2022 Valid 00Z Sat Jan 15 2022 - 00Z Sat Jan 22 2022 A favored composite of reasonably well clustered models and ensembles indicates that a series of highly energetic Pacific storms over the next week should hold within a storm track to the north of the islands, mainly over the mid-latitudes. The weather over Hawaii should remain generally benign. The surface pattern seems to favor land and sea breezes for much of the upcoming week for the northern islands, while the southern islands see light to locally moderate trades. Most forecast uncertainty concerns a series of frontal systems set to stall and dissipate just to the north of the state with approaches Friday/Saturday, Tuesday/Wednesday and possibly again into next Friday. However, there is some chance that these fronts could push into the northern islands to periodically increase local coverage of rain showers. Schichtel
