Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 245 AM EST Thu Feb 10 2022 Valid 00Z Fri Feb 11 2022 - 00Z Fri Feb 18 2022 The Hawaii domain should enjoy a relatively uneventful week of weather through the middle of next week as the region will be near the western edge of a mid-latitude high and south of any frontal passages from the central Pacific. There should be a general col within the subtropical ridge axis by the end of the week, and this will result in lighter trade winds compared to the more breezy conditions expected during the short-range period, when the pressure gradient will be stronger. By Sunday into Monday, a very strong low pressure system tracks well to the northwest of the state, and may result in increased rough surf for early next week for the western-most islands, but far enough away to prevent strong winds or heavy rain to the state. There will also be an upper low that develops east of the Big Island early in the week and this may increase rainfall chances by mid-week. Otherwise, most days should have the typical trade wind enhanced showers across the favored terrain. Hamrick
