Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 248 AM EST Fri Mar 04 2022 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 05 2022 - 00Z Sat Mar 12 2022 Weak trades with typical terrain-enhanced localized showers should resume this weekend as an occluded subtropical cyclone lifts well to the northeast and its trailing cold front drags east of Hawaii. By Monday though, models show another closed low developing to the north, which could bring a cold front towards the western islands early next week and another disruption to the trades. The guidance however keeps the bulk of the precipitation north of Hawaii, though some showers may clip the western edge of the main island chain. This low should weaken and lift north by the middle of next week with ridging and zonal flow building back in over Hawaii. Moderate to breezy trade winds will return and last through at least next Friday with the typical local showers and storms for windward locations. Santorelli
