Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 342 AM EDT Thu Mar 24 2022 Valid 00Z Fri Mar 25 2022 - 00Z Fri Apr 01 2022 A reasonably strong high pressure system well to the north of Hawaii is promoting breezy easterly trade winds across the state, which should continue through the latter part of the week. This could be a wet trade wind pattern with showers over windward and mountain areas as remnant moisture lingers from a front that has now dissipated. This weak band of moisture is forecast to push slowly southward and another minor moisture increase is possible over the weekend, while a period of mid-upper ridging should weaken trades somewhat. By next Monday-Wednesday, weak upper troughing is expected to move back over Hawaii, possibly providing some instability for shower activity. Recent model guidance still indicates the potential for enhanced moisture coming in from the south by the latter half of next week. This could also increase shower coverage, but there is uncertainty in the timing and location details at this point. Tate
