Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 328 AM EDT Fri Apr 08 2022 Valid 00Z Sat Apr 09 2022 - 00Z Sat Apr 16 2022 High pressure is expected to settle over the eastern Pacific this weekend and persist for the remainder of next week. Combined with a front to the distant northwest, this should lead to an extended period of moderate to breezy trade winds from the east-southeast direction. A weak upper low over the state around Sunday-Monday may bring some increased moisture and showers towards the region. Otherwise, typical showers for favorable eastern facing terrain is expected, especially as upper ridging builds back in across the state later next week. The guidance shows a larger scale trough moving east towards the islands late next week, with the GFS continuing to have a greater eastward extent and bring more moisture towards the western islands next weekend. The preference and greater probability at this time is for a more western placement and thus less precipitation. Santorelli
