Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 335 AM EDT Sun Apr 10 2022 Valid 00Z Mon Apr 11 2022 - 00Z Mon Apr 18 2022 High pressure is expected to settle over the eastern Pacific this weekend and persist through at least the middle of next week leading to a fairly typical trade wind pattern with occasional periods of more moderate to breezy speeds. This should bring mainly light showers to the favorable eastward facing slopes. Models suggest an upper trough may cross the region around Friday into Saturday, with some decent moisture moving in over Hawaii and potential for more widespread and heavier showers across portions of the state. The 00z GFS is fastest/farthest south pointing towards better moisture across the Big Island, while the ECMWF brings the better moisture into the northern islands. Plenty of details to be worked out, so a blend towards the ensemble means seems best at this time. Santorelli
