Surface high pressure north of Hawaii through the period should
keep easterly trade winds with moderate to locally breezy sppeds
at time over the next week. This should result in just mainly some
light showers favoring the typical windward locations the next
couple of days. Beginning this weekend, models continue to show
agreement on an upper shortwave settling over Hawaii, bringing an
extended period of higher moisture, especially across the Big
Island and Maui. Expect an increase in rainfall across these
islands into about midweek when the shortwave should weaken/lift
north as upper ridging builds back in over Hawaii.
