Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 336 AM EDT Fri Apr 22 2022 Valid 00Z Sat Apr 23 2022 - 00Z Sat Apr 30 2022 Surface high pressure in place to the northeast of Hawaii over the next couple of days and additional high pressure moving eastward to the north of the state early next week will keep a breezy easterly trade wind pattern in place. Cloudy conditions are likely to abate over the next day or so as a weak upper disturbance moves out. But moisture (precipitable water) values are forecast to remain above normal through the weekend. Windward and mountain/mauka showers are most common in this wind regime, and may be able to tap into the high moisture values to cause locally moderate to heavy rainfall, but widespread heavy rain is not expected. A drier trade wind pattern is forecast for early next week as moisture levels return to near normal. But moisture may increase again by the latter part of next week while model guidance generally shows modest upper troughing over the state as well, so this will continue to be monitored. Tate
