Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 337 AM EDT Fri May 06 2022 Valid 00Z Sat May 07 2022 - 00Z Sat May 14 2022 Today's guidance continues to agree well for the overall forecast through late next week. Expect fairly brisk trades during the period, as a leading high north of the state as of early Friday settles a little to the east into the weekend and then another high takes its place. The strongest winds should be Friday into Saturday, followed by modest relaxing of the gradient into early next week and then possibly a slight increase around Wednesday-Thursday. Showers will favor windward/mountain areas though rainfall may stray elsewhere at times. Amounts should trend gradually lighter going into the weekend as an upper low west of the state and surrounding impulses lift northward while precipitable water values gradually decline (though remaining somewhat above climatology). Moisture could rebound a bit around Tuesday when the remains of a front reach the area from the northeast. Consensus then shows moisture decreasing to near normal for the latter half of next week.
