Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 339 AM EDT Sat May 07 2022 Valid 00Z Sun May 08 2022 - 00Z Sun May 15 2022 Guidance continues to agree upon fairly brisk trades with some day-to-day fluctuations through next week with high pressure to the northeast of the state, while windward/mountain focused showers (perhaps straying elsewhere at times) tend to be in the lighter half of the spectrum. Trades may weaken a bit during early next week, rebound slightly around Wednesday-Thursday, and then trend a little lighter again toward the end of the week. An upper low initially west of the state and impulses on its east side will lift northeastward this weekend, beginning a drier trend that should see precipitable water values settle to near normal for a majority of next week. There is the possibility that the remains of a front could bring a modest band of moisture into the area from the northeast around Tuesday but the 00Z ECMWF and 00Z GEFS/12Z ECMWF means suggest this band may dissipate to a greater degree than forecast by the GFS.
