COAST...

Flash flood watches are in effect across much of the Mid-Atlantic
northward into upstate New York

Flood warnings are in effect for parts of the central Appalachians
as well as parts of coastal Mid-Atlantic

At 400 PM EDT...A frontal boundary extended from Georgia across
South Carolina into central Northern Carolina. East of the front,
National Weather Service radar showed bands of heavy rainfall
extending from eastern Northern Carolina across Virginia into
Maryland, central Pensylvania and central and western New York
state. Isolated flash flooding was occurring over portions of
eastern North Carolina.

A deep southerly flow of tropical air will continue to affect
portions of the East Coast from North Carolina into New York State
tonight into Wednesday. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding can be
expected, with additional rainfall amounts through Wednesday
evening of 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts, over
portions of eastern North Carolina into eastertn Pennsylvania into
eastern New York state.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
center at 1100 PM EDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
