...Moderate to heavy rainfall will begin to advance from
Pennsylvania and New York into New England through late this
evening carrying a continued threat for flooding...
Flood watches, warnings, and advisories are in effect from the
northern Mid-Atlantic region into central New York.

At 400 PM EDT...An area of low pressure was located about 90 miles
north of Cleveland, Ohio with a central pressure of 1010 mb or
29.83 inches of mercury. From this low, a quasi-stationary front
extended southeastward into the southern Mid-Atlantic states while
a slow-moving cold front stretched southwest from the low through
the Tennessee Valley into the Lower Mississippi Valley and along
the western Gulf Coast. National Weather Service radars and
surface observations showed pockets of moderate to heavy rain
across parts of Pennsylvania into eastern New York with light to
moderate rainfall moving through southern and central New England.

The low pressure system is forecast to continue moving slowly
northeastward across Lake Erie into southeastern Ontario through
tonight. Modified tropical moisture streaming northward and
interacting with the system will continue to produce heavy rain
across portions of Pennsylvania into New York, eventually reaching
portions of New England later today. The heaviest additional
rainfall totals are forecast for Pennsylvania, New York and
portions of New England with widespread totals of 1 to 2 inches
expected with locally higher amounts possible. Significant main
stem river flooding is ongoing across portions of northern
Maryland and Pennsylvania along with areal flooding away from
rivers and streams. Farther east, WPC has highlighted parts of the
northern Mid-Atlantic states and Northeast within a Slight Risk
for excessive rainfall/flash flooding.
