NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
400 AM CDT Mon Sep 24 2018

...Heavy rainfall continues in the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys...

Flood warnings, flash flood watches, as well as flood advisories
are in effect for central Tennessee and the southern half of the
Ohio Valley.

For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov

At 300 AM CDT...A slow-moving low pressure system continues to
feed tropical moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico into
eastern Louisiana, as well as the Lower Mississippi, Tennessee and
Ohio Valleys. At the surface, the low pressure system with a
central pressure of 1011 mb, or 29.86 inches of mercury, was
centered in northeastern Texas about 40 miles northwest of
Shreveport, Louisiana. From this low, a stationary front
stretched southward along the Texas-Louisiana border, while
another stationary front extended eastward across the Tennessee
Valley and into the Mid-Atlantic. National Weather Service radars
and surface observations indicated areas of light to moderate rain
with embedded heavy rain continued to spread northeastward across
the Lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee and Ohio Valleys along and
to the north of the stationary front. Meanwhile, bands of showers
and thunderstorms were also affecting eastern Louisiana along the
other stationary front.
