...Heavy rainfall continues in the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys...
Flash Flood Watches as well as scattered Flood Warnings and
Advisories are in effect for Middle Tennessee and the southern
half of the Ohio Valley region. Scattered Flash Flood Warnings are
in effect for far northeastern Georgia and far southeastern
Tennessee.

At 300 PM CDT...Tropical moisture continued to stream northward
from the Gulf of Mexico into the Lower Mississippi, Tennessee, and
Ohio Valleys. At the surface, a low pressure system with a central
pressure of 1010 mb, or 29.83 inches of mercury, was located about
50 miles north of Texarkana, Arkansas. From this low, a
slow-moving weak cold front stretched southward through western
Louisiana. A warm front was lifting north, extending northeastward
through the Lower to Middle Mississippi Valley and eastward into
the Ohio Valley, connecting with a quasi-stationary front in the
Tennessee Valley to Southeast. National Weather Service radars and
surface observations indicated that moderate to heavy rain was
falling across parts of the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. Scattered
thunderstorms were occurring farther south across the Lower
Mississippi Valley and portions of the Southeast. Generally
moderate rain was falling across the Southern and Central
Appalachians as well.

The low pressure system is forecast to weaken tonight over the
Ark-La-Tex region. The warm front will lift northward through the
Ohio Valley through Tuesday, and a stronger cold front will
continue pushing through the Upper and Middle Mississippi Valley
through Tuesday night. Ahead of this cold front, heavy rainfall is
expected to continue across the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys through
Wednesday. Additional widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches
are forecast for the Ohio Valley, with widespread additional
amounts of 1 to 2 inches across the Tennessee Valley, with locally
higher amounts possible in both areas. Slight to Moderate Risks of
excessive rainfall/flash flooding cover both areas.
