A slow-moving low pressure system continues to feed tropical
moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico into eastern Texas and
Louisiana. At 9 AM CDT, the low pressure system with a central
pressure of 1011 mb, or 29.85 inches of mercury, was centered in
eastern Texas about 80 miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana. From
this low, a slow-moving cold front stretched southward through
eastern Texas, while a stationary front extended eastward across
the Tennessee Valley and into the Mid-Atlantic. National Weather
Service radars and surface observations indicated areas of light
to moderate rain with embedded heavy rain continued to spread
northeastward across the lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee and
Ohio Valley, and into the northern Mid-Atlantic to the north of
the stationary front. Meanwhile, bands of showers and
thunderstorms were redeveloping across eastern Texas as they move
eastward into Louisiana ahead of the cold front.

Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are expected across the
Tennessee and Ohio Valleys through early Wednesday.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
