The strong upper-level low will move through the northern
Mid-Atlantic this morning, causing the area of snow and freezing
rain there to move northeastward. The surface low pressure system
located over southeastern New Jersey will continue to strengthen
as it heads northeast today. On the back side of this surface low,
an area of wintry weather is expected. Heavy snowfall will
continue across the northern Mid-Atlantic and interior Northeast,
where an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow is possible, with
locally higher amounts. This will bring storm total snowfall
amounts to around 6 to 12 inches in these areas. The heaviest of
the wintry precipitation will push through New England this
morning, before exiting this afternoon.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
