The low pressure system is forecast to move eastward across the
Middle Mississippi Valley today and into the Ohio Valley
overnight. As the low moves away, snow will end in the Central
Plains this evening, but another 6 to 10 inches is possible there
today, with locally higher amounts. Heavy snowfall rates and
blizzard conditions are expected. Snow will shift into the Middle
Mississippi Valley this evening and into the Upper Great Lakes
Sunday night, on the back side of the low. Parts of the Middle
Mississippi Valley could receive over a foot of snow. Snow will
continue in the Upper Great Lakes region through Tuesday as lake
enhancement continues, and portions of the region are expected to
receive 8 to 12 inches of snow in total. The low will move across
the Lower Great Lakes region on Monday, and snow will occur there
and in the interior Northeast Monday night into Tuesday. 6 to 10
inches of snow is possible in the Lower Great Lakes region, with
10 to 15 inches forecast in northern New England.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
