At 800 PM CST...A low pressure system with an estimated central
pressure of 991 mb or 29.26 inches of mercury was moving
east-northeast passing just to the southeast of Springfield,
Illinois. Warm air from the south of the low was interacting with
arctic air filtering in from the north to result in heavy snow and
areas of blizzard conditions to the northwest of the low pressure
center. National Weather Service radars and surface observations
indicated the heavy snow was spreading eastward across northern
Illinois along with northeast winds gusting to over 50 mph. Rain
was the primary precipitation farther to the east across the lower
Great Lakes and Ohio Valley while bands of showers with embedded
thunderstorms were moving eastward across Kentucky and Tennessee
ahead of a strong cold front.

the lower Great Lakes overnight. Heavy snow with areas of
blizzard conditions are expected to continue overnight across much
of northern Illinois, where 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected.
The heavy snow will then spread into the lower Great Lakes early
on Monday where up to a foot is possible. The low will then move
farther to the east ending the snow across the lower Great Lakes
by Monday evening.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
