Storm Summary Number 8 for Rockies to New England Heavy Snow
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
300 AM CST Tue Nov 27 2018
...Wet snow expanding in coverage over interior New England as a
new low pressure center intensifies near the southern New England
coast...
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
over much of northern New England as well as downwind from Lake
Erie and Lake Ontario for lake-effect snow...
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 200 AM CST...The low pressure system that had been tracking
across the lower Great Lakes continued to weaken. Meanwhile, the
new low pressure center with an estimated sea-level pressure of
990 mb or 29.23 inches of mercury continued to intensify during
the past few hours as it moved across Long Island toward
southeastern Massachusetts. National Weather Service radars and
surface observations indicated that areas of light snow associated
with the weakening low was moving across parts of West Virginia,
western Pennsylvania and into the lower Great Lakes behind a cold
front. Farther east, rain associated with the new low center
became lighter across southeastern New England where winds
remained gusty. Meanwhile, wet snow was expanding in coverage
across interior New England where temperatures were near or just
above freezing.
