Storm Summary Number 3 for Plains Snow and Gulf Coast Rain

...Light to moderate snow continues to fall across parts of the
Central Plains to the Upper Midwest...

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories remain in
effect from eastern Montana and Wyoming, across parts of the
Central and Northern Plains, and into the Upper Midwest.

At 200 AM CST...A low pressure system with a central pressure of
990 mb, or 29.23 inches of mercury, was located in far northern
Missouri, about 150 miles northwest of St. Louis. An occluded
front and a warm front extended eastward from the low across the
upper Ohio Valley with a cold front pushing eastward through the
Ohio and Tennesse Valleys and the central Gulf Coast states.
National Weather Service radars and surface observations indicated
mainly light to moderate snow falling across parts of the Central
Plains and into the Upper Mississippi Valley and Upper Great
Lakes. This system was also responsible for light to moderate
scattered rainfall south of the snow area from southern Wisconsin
to the Tennessee Valley, as well as very heavy rainfall and
embedded strong to severe thunderstorms across parts of the
Southeast.

The low pressure center will continue tracking towards the
northeast overnight and into the Great Lakes on Sunday.
Accumulating snowfall is expected to continue to the north and
west of the low with 1 to 4 additional inches of snow, with
locally higher amounts, possible from eastern Nebraska to
Wisconsin and northern lower Michigan. Higher amounts of 4 to 8
inches is possible across parts of the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan. Across the Southeast, heavy rainfall is expected to
continue for another couple of days with rainfall amounts 2 to 4
inches, with locally higher amounts, possible.
