...Light to moderate snow continues to fall across parts of the
Central Plains to the Upper Midwest while heavy rain persists in
the Southeast...

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect
for portions of the Central Plains, Great Lakes and Northern Maine.

Flash flood watch is in effect for portions of the Southeast.

At 300 PM CST...A low pressure system with a central pressure of
993 mb, or 29.32 inches of mercury, was located in western
Michigan near Grand Rapids. An occluded front extended
northeastward from the low across Lake Superior while a
reinforcing cold front pushes eastward through the Ohio and
Tennessee Valleys as well as the central Gulf Coast states.
National Weather Service radars and surface observations indicated
mainly light to moderate snow falling across parts of the Central
Plains and into the Upper Great Lakes. This system was also
responsible for light to moderate scattered rainfall from southern
Wisconsin to northern Illinois, as well as very heavy rainfall and
embedded strong to severe thunderstorms across parts of the
Southeast.

The low pressure center will continue tracking across the northern
Great Lakes toward the Northeast today. Accumulating snowfall is
expected to continue in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.
Snowfall totaling between 3 to 6 inches are possible across parts
of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan into Canada. Across the
Southeast, heavy rainfall is expected to continue for another
couple of days with amounts between 2 to 4 inches, and locally
higher amounts, possible.
