At 200 PM CST...A low pressure system with a central pressure of
1011 mb, 29.85 inches of mercury, was located about 25 miles
east-northeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. This system was moving
eastward along a slow-moving boundary that stretched across the

northern Texas and central Oklahoma, into the Tennessee Valley.
Light rain was also falling across the Southeast from Alabama to

The upper level disturbance over northern Texas will continue to
steadily progress east through Sunday and Monday with the area of
low pressure to track along the Gulf Coast into the western
Atlantic by Sunday afternoon. Heavy rain is expected near and
north of the low track from the Mississippi Valley through the
Gulf Coast states, where 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with locally
higher amounts will be possible from Louisiana into South
Carolina. Snow and freezing rain are forecast to continue along
the northern and western fringes of the precipitation shield this
evening over northern Texas, Oklahoma and northern Arkansas. Up to
four inches of snow along with light freezing rain accumulations
are expected for these locations, with additional light snow/ice
accumulations extending eastward through the Tennessee Valley into
Sunday. As the storm organizes near the coast of the southeastern
U.S early on Sunday, significant snowfall of over a foot is
expected to affect portions of western North Carolina into
southwest Virginia along with freezing rain affecting the Piedmont
into sections of the Coastal Plain.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
