...Heavy rainfall was affecting western Florida Panhandle, Alabama
and Georgia with wintry precipitation across Arkansas, across the
Tennessee Valley into the western Carolinas...

Winter Storm Watches, warnings and Advisories are in effect from
the mid-Mississippi Valley across the Mid-South into parts of the
southern Piedmont of the Appalachians.

Flood and Flash Flood Watches are in effect for portions of the
Gulf Coast from southern Alabama to southern Georgia.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of northeastern
Georgia, northwestern South Carolina, western North Carolina,
northeastern Tennessee, and southwest Virginia.

At 800 PM CST...A low pressure system with a central pressure of
1010 mb, 29.83 inches of mercury, was located approximately 10
miles east of Mobile, Alabama. This system was moving eastward
along a stationary front that stretched across the northern Gulf
of Mexico offshore the Southeast coast. Aloft, an eastward moving
upper level disturbance was located over the Arklamiss and leading
to wintry precipitaion from Arkansas to the Piedmont. Moisture
streaming ahead of the upper level disturbance was overrunning the
frontal boundary allowing for widespread precipitation across the
southeast U.S. National Weather Service radar and surface
observations indicated cold light rain and snow was falling over
southeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas, into the Tennessee Valley.
Snow occuring in western North Carolina with moderate rates in the
mountains.

The upper level disturbance will continue to steadily progress
east Sunday and Monday with the area of low pressure to track
along the eastern Gulf Coast into the western Atlantic by Sunday
afternoon. Heavy rain is expected near and north of the low track
over the Southeast, where 1 to 3 inches of rainfall with locally
higher amounts will be possible from Alabama into South Carolina.
Snow and freezing rain are forecast to continue along the northern
and western fringes of the precipitation shield tonight over
Arkansas through the Tennessee Valley into the southern
Appalachains and Piedmont. Up to a foot of additional snow along
with light freezing rain accumulations are expected for these
locations, with additional light snow/ice accumulations extending
eastward through the Tennessee Valley into Sunday.
