As the surface low tracks from central Oklahoma into northern
Alabama, a stripe of 4 to 8 inches of snowfall is expected from
eastern Missouri and central Illinois into southwest Ohio, with
lesser amounts across the remainder of the Ohio Valley today and
tonight. A secondary low pressure center is forecast to develop
along the South Carolina coast tonight and become the main low
center as it moves off to the east of the North Carolina Outer
Banks. An area of 5 to 10 inches of snowfall is expected across a
large portion of Virginia, with 3 to 6 inches of snowfall possible
near Washington DC. Dry air across New England will result in a
sharp cutoff to the snowfall across central and southeast
Pennsylvania into far southern New Jersey.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
