The low pressure center near the Kansas/Nebraska/Missouri border
junction is expected to progress north-northeast through the
central Plains and into the Upper Midwest by Friday. Heavy wet
snow is expected from northeast Colorado, through the northern
Plains and into the Upper Midwest. Greatest accumulations are
expected across northern Nebraska, South Dakota, and central
Minnesota with 15-30" possible by Friday. Power outages are
likely. In addition, strong winds will result in blizzard
conditions and hazardous travel. Furthermore, thunderstorms, heavy
rain, and mixed precipitation are expected ahead of the frontal
system. To the south, strong winds will lead to critical fire
weather danger across the southern High Plains.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
