...Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and flash flooding continue
across eastern Texas and the Lower Mississippi Valley...

Flash Flood Warnings and Watches are in effect across the western
Gulf Coast and the Lower Mississippi Valley.

Flood Warnings are in effect across portions of southeast Texas
and much of the Lower Mississippi Valley.

Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Warnings are in effect throughout
southern Texas.

At 900 PM CDT...A surface low with a central pressure of 1003 mb,
or 29.62 inches of mercury, was located in northern Michigan. The
low was occluded with a cold front extending southwestward along
the Mississippi Valley and across southeastern Texas, before
stretching northward through New Mexico as a stationary front.
National Weather Service Doppler radar and surface observations
indicated a line of strong convection across southeastern Texas
producing moderate to heavy rainfall. Additional convection was
located along the central Gulf Coast with thunderstorms and
localized areas of heavy rainfall in southern Louisiana, and light
to moderate rain across southern Mississippi and Alabama. In
addition, a squall line had developed across the Florida
panhandle.

The cold front across southern Texas is expected to progress
slowly, becoming a stationary front and lingering along the Texas
coast until late Saturday night. During this time, 5-10" of
additional rainfall is expected across southeast Texas and
southwest Louisiana with locally higher amounts. Life-threatening
flash flooding is likely throughout these regions, and river
flooding remains a concern.
