...The threat for heavy rainfall and flash flooding continues
across parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf Coast... 

Flash Flood Watches remain in effect across southeastern Texas,
southern Arkansas, Louisiana, and much of Mississippi.

Flood Warnings are in effect across portions of southeast Texas
and parts of Louisiana and southern and central Mississippi.

At 900 PM CDT...A cold front extends southwestward from New
England to the Southeast, becoming stationary along the Texas Gulf
Coast. National Weather Service Doppler radar and surface
observations indicated a region of thunderstorms developing across
southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi while an area of
light to moderate rainfall, with embedded thunderstorms, continued
to impact parts of northern Alabama.

The front is expected to remain stationary, lingering across the
western Gulf Coast and Lower Mississippi Valley through Saturday
before moving eastward on Sunday. Continued thunderstorm activity
is expected overnight and throughout Saturday.  Expect 1-3 inches
of additional rainfall, with local amounts up to 5 inches, from
Southeast Texas across the Gulf Coast states into the Tennessee
Valley by Saturday evening. Flash flooding is possible within this
region, especially with saturated soils across portions of Texas,
Louisiana, and Mississippi. River flooding remains a concern
through the foreseeable future along the lower Mississippi River.
