The trailing front over the central and western Gulf coast is
expected to remain relatively stationary through the rest of the
weekend, while progressing eastward through the Tennessee Valley
as a cold front. Overnight across the Mid-Atlantic states, the
front is expected to lift as a warm front. Continued thunderstorm
activity is expected through Sunday, with greatest rainfall
amounts across southern Mississippi and south/central Alabama.
Expect 1-3 inches of additional rainfall, with local amounts up to
5 inches, across the Southeast and Tennessee Valley through
Sunday, in addition to 1-2 inches across the Mid-Atlantic states.
Flash flooding is possible from southeast Louisiana to the
Appalachians and into southwestern Virginia. Life-threatening
flash flooding is especially likely overnight across southern
Mississippi. Increasingly saturated soils across portions of the
Gulf Coast states enhances the possibility of flash flooding in
these regions. River flooding remains a concern through the
foreseeable future along the lower Mississippi River and its
tributaries.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 AM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
