An upper-level low over the central Plains is forecast to move
slowly east-southeast toward the southeastern U.S. during the next
few days. A broad area of low pressure at the surface will
likewise move slowly east-southeast ahead of the upper low. This
pattern will lead to a large area of long-duration moderate to
heavy rainfall slowly spreading eastward across the Southeast and
into the Mid-Atlantic states during the next few days. Highest
rainfall totals through Monday morning are expected to be 5 to 7
inches, with locally greater amounts, along the southern
Appalachians and the Gulf Coast region of the Florida Panhandle.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 PM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
