The surface low over central Arkansas will cross the lower
Mississippi Valley early today and strengthen as it lifts
east-northeast across the Tennessee Valley by tonight. On Sunday,
the storm system will cross the Mid-Atlantic region and lift
northeast up along the New England coast. Heavy snowfall will
develop and spread north and northeast of the low track this
weekend, with snowfall totals of as much as 4 to 8 inches across
the Midwest and including the Ohio Valley north of the Ohio River.
More significant snowfall is expected farther to the northeast
across the northern Mid-Atlantic region and Northeast with
interior areas of Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire,
and Maine seeing as much as 1 to 2 feet of snowfall by Sunday
evening. In addition to the heavy snow, there will be concerns for
ice as sleet and freezing rain will be likely just south of the
heavy snowfall axis involving portions of the Ohio Valley,
northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. Locally as much a
0.25 inch of ice accretion will be possible.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
