Storm Summary Number 5 for Great Lakes to Northeast Snowstorm
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
400 AM EST Wed Nov 13 2019
...Lake effect snow begins to wind down across Ohio, Pennsylvania,
and New York...
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Eerie County in
northwestern Pennsylvania.
Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for lake effect belts
downstream of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in western New York.
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 300 AM EST...Surface observations revealed a surface low, with
an estimated minimum central pressure of 991 mb, or 29.26 inches
of Mercury, moving through the Canadian Maritime Provinces north
of Anticosti Island. A cold front extended down through the
western Atlantic Ocean, and crossing southern Florida. National
Weather Service radar imagery and surface observations indicated
that lake effect snowfall continued downwind of Lakes Erie and
Ontario. A broad and intensely cold arctic air mass behind the
front had led to numerous record low temperatures Tuesday morning,
and record cold daytime high temperatures from the Great Lakes and
Ohio Valley to the southern Plains. Single digit temperatures were
observed across much of Michigan and the Ohio Valley.

Northwest winds and cold arctic air flowing over the relatively
warm lake surfaces will sustain lake effect snow from Ohio to
western New York through Wednesday morning, and additional
accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are generally expected, although an
isolated 4 or 5 inch amount could occur overnight. As high
pressure settles over the Midwest and Southeast Wednesday morning
the winds and lake effect snow will subside. High temperatures
will be in the 30s and 40s across the eastern half of the US on
Wednesday as high pressure continues to funnel arctic air into the
region.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
