...A significant Pacific storm will make landfall along the
Pacific Northwest coast this evening...
Blizzard Warnings are in effect for the South Central Oregon
Cascades. Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for much of central
and southern Oregon, the Shasta, Sierra Nevada, and the San
Gabriel and San Bernadino mountains of California, south-central
Nevada, and central Idaho. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
for the coasts of central and Southern Oregon, California's
northern coast, central coastal range, and northern Sacramento
Valley, much of northern Nevada, and south-central Idaho.
High Wind Warnings are in place for southeast Oregon, northwest
California, the northern Sacramento Valley, northwest and
northeast Washington, northern Idaho, and northwest Montana. Wind
Advisories are also in place for Oregon's Umpqua Valley, much of
California's central Sacramento Valley and coastal ranges,
Washignton's northwest coast and east-central counties,
west-central Montana, western Nevada, and norhtern Arizona.
Flash Flood Watches are in effect for areas north of the San
Francisco Bay area, portions of southern California, and much of
southern Arizona.

At 600 PM PST...A strong occluded Pacific storm system located
just off the coast of southwest Oregon. This surface low had a
central pressure of 974 mb, or 28.76 inches of mercury, which is
among the lowest atmospheric pressure readings on record so close
to southwest Oregon and northwest California. National Weather
Service radar and surface observations showed moderate to heavy
precipitation tracking through northern and central California,
western Oregon, and far western Nevada. Mountain ranges of western
Oregon and northern and central California are reporting moderate
to heavy snowfall while valleys of these regions contend with
heavy rain. Intense wind gusts are occurring across much of these
affected regions with downed trees and power outages reproted in
northwest California and southwest Oregon.

The storm system is forecast to track inland across southern
Oregon tonight and into early Wednesday. Precipitation associated
with deep Pacific moisture will track into the western U.S. with
periods of valley rain and mountain snow tonight and throughout
the day on Wednesday. Central coastal ranges and valleys of
California will contend with scattered showers and thunderstorms
tomorrow with southern California soon to follow on Thanksgiving.
The Sierra Nevada will measure snowfall in feet with some of the
highest elevations picking up several feet of snow. The southern
mountains of California will also receive heavy snowfall with
amoutns of 12-24" possible. The storm will track into the Great
Basin and central Rockies where more heavy snow is anticipated on
Friday and into the weekend. High winds will be most common in
California, Oregon, and parts of the northern and southern Rockies
on Wednesday.
