...A significant Winter storm is currently impacting the Western
U.S.... 

High Wind Warnings are in place for west-central Montana and
western Nevada.

Blizzard Warnings are in effect for northern Montana. Winter Storm
Warnings are in effect for much of central and southeastern
Oregon, the Shasta, Sierra Nevada, and the San Gabriel and San
Bernadino mountains of California, south-central Nevada, central
Idaho and much of Utah. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
for the coasts of central and Southern Oregon, Californias
northern coast, central coastal range, and northern Sacramento
Valley, much of northern Nevada, and southern Idaho.

At 600 AM PST...A strong occluded Pacific storm system was located
over south-central Oregon between Kalamath and Lakeview. The
surface low had a central pressure of 984 mb, or 29.06 inches of
mercury. National Weather Service radar and surface observations
showed moderate to heavy precipitation tracking through central
and southern California. The Sierra are reporting moderate
snowfall while valleys contend with moderate to heavy rain.
Moderate to heavy snowfall was observed over parts of eastern
Oregon, southeastern Idaho and western Colorado. Intense wind
gusts are occurring across much of these affected regions.

The storm system is forecast to track across the intermountain
west through Friday morning before entering into the Great Plains
Friday Morning. Precipitation associated with deep Pacific
moisture will track into much of the western U.S. with periods of
valley rain and mountain snow throughout today. Central coastal
ranges and valleys of California will contend with scattered
showers and thunderstorms today with southern California soon to
follow on Thanksgiving. The Sierra Nevada will measure snowfall in
feet with some of the highest elevations picking up several feet
of snow. The southern mountains of California will also receive
heavy snowfall with amounts of 12-24" possible. The storm will
track into the Great Basin and central Rockies where more heavy
snow is anticipated on Friday and into the weekend. High winds
will be most common in California, Oregon, and parts of the
northern and southern Rockies on Wednesday.
