The stationary boundary extending from the Mid-Atlantic to the
Southern Plains will move very little across the eastern U.S.
today, with snow and an icy mix continuing this morning across
portions of the Mid-Atlantic, Central Appalachians, and Ohio
Valley. Meanwhile, as a low pressure system gains strength across
the Lower Mississippi Valley today, snow currently impacting the
Southern Rockies and southern Kansas will spread eastward across
the Middle Mississippi and Ohio valleys. This second surge of
moisture will produce 1 to 2 inches of additional snow across the
Midwest and Ohio Valley, as well as a glaze or more of ice.
Farther south, there is a threat for severe thunderstorms in the
Deep South and a threat for flash flooding in the eastern Ohio and
Tennessee valleys this afternoon and evening. The storm system
will then advance east into the Mid-Atlantic Tuesday morning,
bringing 3 to 6 inches of snow and an icy mix across the eastern
Great Lakes, interior Northeast, and New England.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
