...Areas of snow and freezing rain stretch from the Midwest to the
northern Mid-Atlantic...
Ice Storm warnings are in effect for eastern West Virginia and
western Maryland.
Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for portions of central
Missouri, central Illinois, and central Indiana, as well as
northeast Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey.
Winter Weather Advisories are in place stretching from eastern
Kansas across the Midwest, the Ohio Valley, the northern
Mid-Atlantic, and southern New England.
Flood Watches and Warnings are in effect for central and eastern
Kentucky, far western Virginia, West Virginia and southeast Ohio.

At 800 PM CST...Surface observations show multiple areas of low
pressure along a nearly stationary frontal boundary draped from
the Tennessee Valley to the southern Mid-Atlantic region. National
Weather Service Radar showed bands of light to moderate snow from
central Missouri to central Pennsylvania, with multiple locations
just to the south observing mixed precipitation or freezing rain.
Heavy rain was also occurring along the stationary front across
the Tennessee Valley with a line of strong to severe thunderstorms
extending from eastern Tennessee to southern Louisiana.

The frontal boundary extending from the Tennessee Valley to the
Mid-Atlantic region will slowly lift north across the eastern U.S.
this evening. Snow and an icy mix will persist for portions of the
Mid-Atlantic, Central Appalachians, Northeast, and Ohio Valley,
yielding to an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow. A glaze or more
of ice may also occur, with more significant ice accumulation
possible across western Maryland and southwestern Pennsylvania. As
a low pressure system gains strength over the Tennessee Valley and
an associated cold front pushes across the Deep South tonight,
strong to severe thunderstorms are still possible across the Deep
South and Southeast. Heavy rain and flash flooding will also
remain a concern for portions of the Ohio and Tennessee valleys.
The center of storm system will advance east into the Mid-Atlantic
Tuesday morning, bringing 3 to 6 inches of snow and an icy mix
across the eastern Great Lakes, interior Northeast, and New
England. Snow and wintry precipitation are forecast to come to an
end by Wednesday morning across New England.
