Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of northeast
Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey.
Winter Weather Advisories stretch from Indiana across the Ohio
Valley, the northern Mid-Atlantic, and southern New England.
Flood Watches and Warnings are in effect for central and eastern
Kentucky, southwestern Virginia, West Virginia, southwest
Pennsylvania, and southeast Ohio.

At 900 AM EST...Surface observations indicated an area of low
pressure located in central Kentucky, with an estimated central
pressure of 1008 mb, 29.76 inches of mercury. A cold front
extended southward into the central Gulf Coast while a stationary
boundary extended eastward from the low across the Central
Appalachians, before linking up into a new low off of the
southeastern coast of New Jersey. This newly formed surface low
had a central pressure of 1011 mb, or 29.85 inches of mercury.
National Weather Service Radar showed bands of light to moderate
snow from southern Indiana to northern Massachusetts, with
multiple locations just to the south observing mixed precipitation
or freezing rain. Locally heavy rain and thunderstorms were also
occurring ahead of the cold front across the Southeast.

The low pressure system located in Kentucky will move
northeastward across the Mid-Atlantic today before consolidating
with the coastal low off of the New England coast this evening.
Snow and an icy mix will persist for portions of the northern
Mid-Atlantic, Central Appalachians and Northeast. This will lead
to an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow across New England and the
Interior Northeast. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is likely for
parts of northeastern Pennsylvania, northwestern New Jersey and
the Hudson Valley. Snow and wintry precipitation from this system
are forecast to come to an end by Wednesday morning across New
England.
