At 900 PM EST...A low pressure system with an estimated central

Superior, or about 45 miles north-northwest of Newberry, MI. An
occluded front extended well east down across portions of New York
and Pennsylvania, with a cold front farther south crossing the
Mid-Atlantic region. Meanwhile, a separate developing area of low
pressure with a central pressure of 1000 mb, 29.53 inches of
mercury, was located offshore the East Coast about 80 miles south
of Long Island. A cold front also extends south of this low center
which is sweeping out over the western Atlantic. National Weather
Service Doppler radars and surface observations indicated bands of
light-to-moderate snow from eastern Minnesota to Michigan.
Meanwhile, moderate mixed precipitation was found across the
interior Northeast and New England.

The low center over Lake Superior will weaken and meander near the
U.P. of Michigan through Tuesday. Although the heaviest snowfall
has ended for the northern Plains, heavier snow is expected to
fall across northern Wisconsin and Michigan overnight. Storm total
snow accumulations on the order of 6 to 12 inches, with locally
higher amounts, are expected from northern Wisconsin to the U.P.
of Michigan. Gusty winds of 30 to 45 mph are likely across the
Plains and Upper Midwest, which will result in areas of blowing
and drifting snow, poor visibility, and hazardous travel
conditions. Meanwhile, the separate low pressure system south of
Long Island will intensify southeast of New England through
Tuesday, bringing additional snow and ice across interior portions
of the Northeast. Snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are
expected, with ice accumulations of locally over a half an inch,
especially for the Adirondacks and Catskills of New York, and the
Berkshires of western Massachusetts.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 400 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
