...Snow continues for New England while snow showers linger
downwind of the Great Lakes...
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
for much of the Northeast as well as parts of the Upper Great
Lakes region.
For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov
At 300 AM EST...A newly formed surface low was located near
Boston, Massachusetts with a central pressure of 1004 mb, or 29.65
inches. From this low, a cold front and a warm front extended into
the Atlantic. A coastal front had also formed along the New
England coast. National Weather Service radars and surface
observations indicated that generally moderate snow was falling
across much of New England on the backside of the low. Snow
showers were also reported farther west in the Great Lakes region.
Another cold front stretched across the Ohio Valley, Mississippi
Valley, and Plains, and snow showers were falling along the front
in some locations. This cold front had ushered in bitterly cold
wind chills in the 50s and 60s below 0 in eastern parts of the
Northern Plains and throughout the Midwest.
