The surface low is expected to move eastward through the Great
Lakes region Monday night and Tuesday. Heavy snow will continue
spreading north and east of the low across the Upper Great Lakes
region, where 6 to 10 inches of snow is expected through Monday.
However, additional heavy snow is likely downwind of the Great
Lakes in the cold air behind the low on Tuesday and Wednesday,
leading to total snowfall amounts of 1 to 2 feet in some areas.
Snow of 8 to 12 inches, with locally higher amounts, is forecast
for the interior Northeast on Tuesday. Farther south, rain is
expected to change to snow behind the cold front associated with
the low; 1 to 4 inches of snow is possible in parts of the Lower
Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, and the Appalachians.
Additionally, this system will usher in an extremely cold arctic
airmass across much of the Northern Plains, Midwest, and the
Mid-Atlantic/Northeast. Dangerously cold and potentially record
breaking temperatures and wind chills are expected by Tuesday and
Wednesday, particularly for the Upper Midwest, where wind chill
values could be as low as 40 to 60 degrees below zero for many
locations, including Chicago and Minneapolis.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
