The surface low located in the Upper Great Lakes continues to
deepen as it progresses toward southern Ontario. For tonight,
heavy snow will continue to fall across the Upper Great Lakes.
Expect 3 to 5 inches of additional snow, with locally higher
amounts. This region, as well as portions of eastern North and
South Dakota and western Minnesota/Iowa, will also experience
gusty winds creating blizzard conditions. Expect these conditions
to last throughout the night. Blizzard conditions for portions of
the Upper Peninsula of Michigan will continue into Friday evening.
Additional light ice accumulations can be expected in the southern
portions of the Upper Great Lakes and northern New England near
the transition zone of rain and snow. The heavy rain aspect of
this storm will taper off across the Ohio and Tennessee valleys
overnight.
The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
